Chris L
I know there are a few forum members who fly at Bidford meadow, so I thought I would start a thread and see what happens. Had a good fly tonight:) Brian was down with his 6m Sammy and Rage and there was also a 4m Blade in the air. Post away...

What was it like over there today? was it as bad as Monday? Hows Brian getting on with his buggying?

Burger
Sorry I had to work late last night , I did have a little fly in Redditch though, I've found a new flying site on the side of a hill, but its only any good in Southern winds. I was going to go over to Bidford Meadow tonight, but the winds calmed down to next to nothing now I finished work. Oh well, I have three days off from work now, and I'm going up north to see my dad in Haltwhistle near Carlisle, so I might try and find a flying area around there. Chris L
Had a good fly this afternoon:D Had the 7.5m and 5m out as it was a bit gusty:eek: James got some big jumps on the 7.5, shame I left the video at home. http://www.crustysoft.co.uk/Kites/Images/gallery/pictures/FrenzyBidford.jpg
Schmool
Chris, Bidford is my 'usual' spot, especially when there's a 15mph + Easterly or Westerley. I fly a G2 11m (red) with Flexdeck board or a Blade 3 - 4.9 in Flo Yellow. On higher wind days I fly a lynn mk1 V8 in Yellow and Blue. Not sure if we've met before but I'll look out next time. Dude, Where's good around redditch? I havn't found anywhere yet. A bloke told me about the field by The Duckpond but that's a little too small and it gets full of p######ds. Morton Stanley doesn't seem to have any good areas, not that I've found yet and I don't think they'd appreciate me surfing the Arrow Valley Lake - not that I would want to! Schmool
All, Looks like a 11 - 12 mph southerly wind on Saturday between 12 and 6(ish). Anyone gonna be around? Guy

Hi mate! sorry i haven't replied earlier, I haven't been flying at all lately, due to the poor wind conditions. I've never been over to the field by the duckpond? is this the football pitch area next to the social club? if so I think the wind may be quite crap there, because it's a very low lying area and any wind coming from the south west would be blocked by the hill that surrounds the redditch area. I have been to the playing fields behind the golden goose (formerly wild goose) pub, the one by the skate park. It's ok here, but you do get alot of chavs with their mini moto or quad bikes racing around you. The wind also gets a bit gusty around this area aswell. However if the wind is coming from the south the upper field by the church is a good spot CLICK to the right of this location. There is a little island in the middle of the field with some trees, but you can get some clean wind up there. I think the best bet though, is Bidford, you can drive your cars on that field!! I can't actually beleive I forgot the name of a pub....I feel so ashamed, Lol. I totally agree with you, Bidford is the best by far as long as the wind is not northern. I'm currently looking at a field down at stoke prior next to Harris paint brushes, I'm not to sure who owns the area but it's worth finding out. The only down side is that it's surrounded by trees. I think I'll give it a go just to see.....watch this space! Schmool

I'd love to try and find a new flying site, but I don't know any people who own any land. I'm just waiting until I win the lottery so that I can buy my own airfield on a hill:D:D ....what, I can dream can't I:D I'll be flying at bidford after work tonight, if the wind isn't too strong and gusty if anybody fancies it! Might pop down after Tea. Should be there about 7ish, wind looks a bit gusty and not from the best direction:(
Burger
sorry guys can't make it tonight, work commitments looks like another week of non-kiting activities by the looks of the weather this weekend. Lets hope it changes!!!
Burger
f'in Bidford council:mad: . I've been to Bidford Meadow quite a number of times in the past and not once have I seen anybody playing football on the main field!! so what does Bidford council do... stick two stonking great goal posts on that field, and not at the top end or bottom end of the field, but smack bang in the centre IDIOTS!!!!!! There must be at least three fenced off football pitches on that field, why another????? Why does the council want to attract football louts to the area when they have us nice, friendly kiters, whom, in my opinion attract people to the area, as I've seen loads of families whatching what we're doing. I BLAME OLD BIDDIES ON THE COUNCIL!!!!!

Burger
The posts are near enough paralell to where the joining of the old football pitch fence to the new football pitch fence (if that makes sense?). You can still fly down the middle of the field, but if people are using the football posts either end we're left with the top or bottom end of the field, which isn't a good run at all. I'll be over at the field tomorrow, after 5pm, so I might see you then.
Schmool
I have the feeling that the council is trying to force us out and make way for all the chav's on their minimoto's. (They havn't got the balls to tell us directly) I was thinking of going down for a fly tonight, the winds not in the right direction but I NEED to fly! (calm down now......deep breath) I hope the post aren't in the way but if they are - F**k, we'll have to try and find somewhere else. On another note, I had a word with Harris Paintbrushes on whether we're allowed to use the playing field there, as such no response but they said that they'd get back to me by the end of this week - fingers crossed. Might see you later, Schmool

(They havn't got the balls to tell us directly) You've got it in one there mate!!! I went over to the meadow this afternoon, and had a pretty good session:) the wind was reasonably strong, but as it was coming from the North West it was very, very gusty and patchy. Managed to get a few good jumps in though:). The football posts don't get in the way that much, but I can imagine that if theres more than a few flyers on the field at one time it may get a bit difficult to dodge them. What a waste of space they are:mad:! Good luck with the people at Harris Brushes Schmool lets hope it's good news! I may be over at the field tomorrow after 5.30 as the missus is working late, and I don't like being in the flat on my own:D :D. It all depends if that rain holds off aswell. Schmool
Still havn't been called back by Harris Brushes yet, looks like it'll be a no no . At least we've tried........ I'll wait until next week before I try to find somewhere new to play. Schmool
Burger
went to bidford meadow yesterday!! I've never been in such gusty conditions, it took me ages to get the brown stains out of my pants... and, no, it wasn't mud:D:D . Chris L and I got lufted one after the other on the same gust of wind:eek: which was quit funny, but could have been a bit more seriouse if the gust lasted any more than a second. When are you coming over Schmool, I don't think we've met, have we? I might pop over tomorrow (sat) if the wind dies down slightly.
