GKC: Christmas Meet, 13th Beach

13th Beach, Sunday 2nd December

Low tide is just after midday, so the event runs from 11am - 3pm on 13th Beach.

Winds are predicted to be S / SE. If there's a change to that, then another email will go out - or posted on EK.

Beach Access Marker #40.

There will be a late lunch (either Barwon Heads Pup, or Fish n Chips) at Barwon Heads after 3pm. Then, either we can go to the Belmont Common and have a quick buggy race, or chill out at Barwon heads and go Kiteboarding (more likely).

Oh, and the lunch will be provided by the GKC.

Either way, it'll be a fun day, and the last chance for club members to get together.

Hope you can make it.

I still don't know where you get you wind forecasts from?

If you look at the temp for Sunday it's 31, and a change on the way, so that means a Northerly for the day.

Don't like my crazy idea of what the winds will do, here's the BOM's.

From the BOM:

Boating Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port

Issued at 1625 on Wednesday the 28th of November 2007

Sunday

Northeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots freshening to 15 to 20 knots in the morning

then tending northerly in the afternoon. Waves to 1 metre.

I hear the pub calling:whistle:

Yeah; looks like the actual 13th Beach meet will be cancelled. I went off the forecast on Tuesday - which was showing a vague SE pattern. Anyway - looks like a few folks will be down to go Kiteboarding at Pt Henry.

However, we might make the 13th Beach day the FOLLOWING SUNDAY 9TH DECEMBER...

Low Tide 6:15. Followed by dinner at BHP at 7:30 or so.

Meet at 1pm for Kiteboarding (Raafs), or 4pm for Buggying (either at 13th Beach, or Raafs) - will decide by the end of the week.

If you are keen to make it to this updated event; please post here! Would like to get an idea of numbers. Will update the forecast when it comes to hand.

Cheers,

Goshen

PS - It's the last low tide that sort of suits (on a weekend) this year. I know it's a bit on the late side for a Sunday, but if the wind is good; then it's worth coming down for it.

So far we've got:

Joel,

Domenic,

Michael Harris,

Goshen,

Richard (Maybe)

Winds are forecast SW - so 13th Beach is going to be the venue of choice.

Beach Access Marker #40 @ 4pm.

Note: Want more flying? Then meet at Belmont Common on the way down at 1pm; then head down to the beach afterwards.

Nevyn, it'd be great to have you come along...

Don't you folks look at the BOM??

Here's the BOM's forecast for Sunday:

Sunday

Northwest winds 15 to 20 knots shifting west to southwesterly at 20 to 25 knots

during the day. Waves rising to 1 to 1.5 metres.

Sunday Shower or two developing. Min 14 Max 25

So Joel, you'll end up in Tassie if you kite surf.

Fingers crossed the change comes early, and we can use the beach!!

See you lot there!!

Sunday

Variable wind below 10 knots tending northwesterly in the morning and freshening

to 15 to 20 knots. A southwesterly change of 20 to 25 knots developing in the

afternoon...

Ok, so what's definite is that we'll be at 13th Beach, Marker #40 after about 3-4pm.

Earlier than that the wind could be doing anything; so I don't know where the best spot will be - either Pt Henry (which is also good in W-SW), or 13th Beach for wave riding.

See you there!
