parksy
Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone knows best place to get Flysurfer Silver Arrows repaired? First flight of my 19m SA 2.25 and assisted landing ended with gaping hole in leading edge of cell!!! To be fair kite was soaked by sea mist and wind was gusting up, and I didn't tutor helper how to grab kite Anyhoo, anywhere over here fix them or do I send to FS in Germany? Cheers for any suggestions, Steve

carltb
is the material really that flimsy or is it an old kite?
parksy
is the material really that flimsy or is it an old kite? Hey Carl, the kite is a Speed 2 Silver Arrow version, the cloth is like tissue paper, it flies in a gnats fart. This 19m was in pretty much new condition, it was just an unfortunate chain of events. I should have landed earlier but was having too much fun, if kite was dry it prob would have been fine, but when guy grabbed handful of top skin and 19m of wet kite billowed downwind it just ripped through, even with the Speed 3 you have to grab both sides and as much as poss. My 15m SA has been up trees, in thorn bushes, in the mud at Greatstone and in the sea and it's worn much thinner but still going, just haha Hope I can get this baby fixed soon because I was having a blast in less than 10 to 15mph sooooper floaty haha
slide
I've got a speed2 15 SA, and it has pulled a bit on the vent stitching , so I am just gonna use white ripstop repair tape - I used it before and its strong , but the material is weak , and great care needs to be taken when using these kites
slide
I have the 15 SA and it is flimsy to say the least but ripstop white tape works well and is stronger than the material - mine needs some , and has pulled a bit on the vent stitching , so i'm just gonna very carefully repair with tape

slide
on the bonus side tho the the spd2 15 SA is the best ever low wind kite I have ever flown , and I could cruise and fly very nicely in 6mph upwards , and I know this to be true -gotta get this baby patched up a bit
parksy
This one is a little beyond repair tape Slide It did have a small slice when it arrived that I patched up, this one could be sewn up with repair patches but I'd prefer full panel for 'invisible mend' if possible. slide
flysurfer will put a new panel in it if you send it to them - I've had a new panel put in mine and it was brilliant quality-a bit expensive but the best way
Tone
is the material really that flimsy or is it an old kite? Being a speed 2 it will be quite an old kite.
slide
I think the sa had a 3 kg rip test as opposed to 7kg for normal cloth , something like that , nowhere as strong as deluxe material , I have a speed 2 10metre delux , one of the black/gold ones -its a thing of beauty and my favourite kite still as its so fu*king quick , and amazing to jump with - you know when you can get a kite to 10 o'clock and dip in a bit deeper before you redirect - something my pulse2 6metre does with ease in mental winds - the 10 delux is old too but still as tough as it would have been , but I have wondered if old ripstop will deteriate with age ...my oldest kites are 1997 blade 1's , and they are still fine and fly great - I have 2.6, 3.3 , 4.9-the best size's and will not sell em-i do hope they don't fall apart tho in 15 years time , but they are fine so far , lol

Age is but a number, if you've been used and abused you'll be fooked in couple years, if you been looked after and treated well you'll be looking good as new beyond your years
