You have more than the right engagement anyway. igeighty

igeighty
A huge thanks to @.Joel for the front fork. Thanks dave for the wheels. Thanks @Chook for the engineering advice and the buggy engine you blew my mind with the vapour. And thanks to the rest of you for comments and giggles. A quick trip to bunnings for a pipe cutter to make the spacers for the front wheel, and a trip to http://www.mcas.com.au with the wheel and fork to find a fender to fit. the blokes at the bike shop seemed pretty keen on a kite buggy. The fender is secure and solid, after a bit of cutting the plastic with a hot knife. It should do the job. not as nice as a carbon one, but good enough. Now all we need is a nice day and a southerly to see what all this fuss about disks is. Here are a couple of pictures for your viewing pleasure. Thanks everyone for advice and help. couldn't have done it without you. IMK, jhn.holgate, Mez and 3 others

the_hatman
If you have any worrys about the thread engagement swap out the M20 nuts on the inside of the wheel with M20 lock nuts (or 1/2 nuts) this would give you 8 to 12mm of extra thread and not affect the mechanics of the wheel (hub) but your back axil will be an inch shorter. Nice wheels, shame they don't make them in 16", can the hubs be acquired on there own Edited July 6, 2016 by the_hatman OBE
igeighty
G'Day Richard., the closest i found in the small sizes was a 10" rim for 'Pit Bike' 10" x 1.60" they have a flange on either side if the hub though, and would probably have to be lathed off. Haan (netherlands) make a sidecar wheel. http://www.haanwheels.com/haan/en/sidecar/#[sidecar]/0/ but is very pricey. they do not have it on their sites, but i wonder in http://www.landsegler.de or http://www.mg-kites.com/site/products/kitebuggy/mg-discs/ would make anything smaller ? prices are pretty extreme, although generally cheaper than motorcycle wheels. I had asked around some of the push wheels makers (custom built) but found that a single wheel was in excess of 400$ I am not sure what you will find on alibaba and those chinese sites in regards to scooter wheels. .Joel
@igeighty looks good! How much clearance between the bottom of the mudguard and the ground once you're sitting in it?
igeighty
About 5 cm's i may have cut a little bit too much off, but it does hang lower than what the wide forks carbon guard hung down. i had to remove about 15 cm's of plastic off the trailing edge for it to stop dragging. Although ill never be bugging in shorts especially after the 'bluebottle incident' jhn.holgate and Mez

Length looks good, and looks like a good job fitting it too You could even reduce a bit more if you have to, just keep something in your kite bag on your first day out. On the sand, with your body weight in the buggy it will sink lower than on a hard surface. I'm going to cut mine about 15-20cm from the ground, and rivet some rubber to the end of it. .Joel
Just for a comparison @igeighty's Land Segler Beach with Kenda's vs my Sysmic with Saava's on there. Mez and igeighty
