eLuSiVeMiTe
Full face motorbike helmet for me thanks. Don't fancy coming out of the buggy at speed in that. :S my heads important to me so I won't skimp. Left my helmets in the garage sat night after cleaning car and buggies and had to borrow a climbing lid for the Sunday. Felt very exposed without my full face. Ivan
Giro are one of the best mountain bike lids out there and I understand what people say about full face lids but for people who don't like full face these really are a quality helmet and not a cheap option these are cheap because they are 2011 models which means they have different stickers on lol, then again for the consumers it's to "dated" Oh my thoughts on full face in the buggy, to claustrophobic and restrictive
eLuSiVeMiTe
Lose a bit of peripheral vision yeah and a tad more weight but when ya shooting down the beach at near 50mph in silly winds it's reassuring. Besides in the winter it keeps ya head warm and dry and cuts out some of te wind noise. I keep a lightweight moto trials open face in the car for low wind days. High neck so doesn't restrict movement and vision is unobstructed. Do recal reading some worrying stats on cycle helmets. Il try and dig em out when I get home. tvrgreg
i use a giro helmet for snowboarding, giro have been making helmets for years there good lids. i use a skate type helmet for inland flying in the peter lynn buggy probably never going over 25mph. but this year i bought a libre super truck and use that on the beach and started getting over 35mph, so got myself a motorcross helmet, i was worried about restricted vision and extra weight but spent a week at pembrey and never noticed it. the peak is adjustable so it tilts up and have no problems seeing the kite at zenith. have had a few obe's with it and landed on my head no problems its saved me from things been flicked up off the beach a few times. got that for £45 new last years colours

benklaasen
...and when your lid has had a knock, you bin it, right? Lids are not for life, they're for Christmas. That doesn't mean you should scrimp, it just means you might have to write off that hundred quid purchase sooner than you think. Don't trust your head to a lid that's had a knock and don't buy second hand lids.
Ivan
I used to have a paragliding lid but the name evades me, was full face but styled perfectly for it
Sand-Yeti
Don't trust your head to a lid that's had a knock and don't buy second hand lids. I've got 4 lids that have all been used for kiting in my garage & all for sale. Only had small knocks except one. i.e no visible cracks in them. One of them had a really hard smack that knocked off a a lot of paint. I will sell this one for a little more than I paid for it because I have tested it out for real and it didn't break. Also have one with mating goggles that has a big crack through it that doesn't impair vision too much. They are all smelly & sticky with desert sand inside from sweating a lot but as kiters are hard men, that extra aroma shouldn't bother them but willing to haggle on price. Nice isn't it? I've used Giro for years mountain biking and saved me from five big crashes over that time. I bought this exact helmet a year or so ago and it was £75 back then after shopping about. So tempted to get another as a spare. Cheers Ian
castle
The only one left in my size was houndstooth which looks unusual but I think I like it. Have a bright green one on the way for my daughter.
