carltb
whats the beach like down there? ive heard the sand is quite soft.
chinook
Sand can be soft in places, but usually a good strip by the lighthouse. Get by on barrows, once met Afro there on a board.
Berrykiter
when i went and tryed talacre it was very soft! wouldnt recomend that place for landboard and my dad couldnt really move in his buggy either.

Bowman61
Was at Talacre a couple of weeks ago, OK if your on bigfoots or midis, not so good for boards or barrows however, surface tends to be inconsistant, I had a cracking day in more ways than one, got slamed against the siderail and bashed a rib, ouch. chinook
http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp121/aeolo/P1040038-1.jpg 2 mile run of hard packed, smooth sand Cloudless skys and views of snow capped mountains in the distance. http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp121/aeolo/P1040034-1.jpg Clean on shore winds all day Total miles for the day 66 miles Not bad for a rubbish beach

Bowman61
I've been told that with a good onshore you can run from Talacre to Rhyl and back.
kliwayley
We were chased off the beach by some d* head lifeguards in a hovercraft. No nice polite "please can you move on sir" they just hearded and hounded us til we gave up. really annoyed me!
krazykarl
I thought about trying Talacre, but i have read its not the best for boarding/buggying Just like chinook says in a later post not bad goin for a crap beach dont know who some of you havebeen listening to but nw through ne this beach works and also ive flown it on fully offshore also check the video out on vimeo or utube for size talacre or bust shows how big it is some good low tides and sand is very hard . . Rob Davies
As a first timer at talacre just like to add had a great time there , good to meet up with Krazy Karl & Jo . I will definitely be going back probably get some midi's or bigfoots first though. It was a bit bumpy lost my garmin etrex halfway through the day . Thanks to all for looking for it couldn't believe my luck when it turned as we were packing up ! I reckon Talacre is every bit as useable as Ainsdale plus has the benefit of working on more wind directions. Thanks for a go on your buggy Karl it's a beast - loved it ! NuK
Hello to everyone. This is my first post and my name is Stafford. Is anyone planning on going to Talacre on Sat 29th June 13 or Sun 30th June? I have flown my Samurai 3m once.... and loved it (ached for a week afterwards). I had to go out and buy a buggy immediately and have yet to try it out. Soooooo...... if anyone fancies havin a laugh and taking the proverbial out of a newbie this weekend I'm going to have a go. Oh, and if there's anything I should know about the beach itself (other than the fact that it's sandy) I'd appreciate the heads up, thanks. Rob Davies
Only just spotted your post Stafford , was going to go Ainsdale but Talacre could be do-able , when you planning on going down? It's a good beach a bit soft in places , but there is a hard packed strip near the lighthouse that works well on NW wind direction . Low tide 11am windfinder says 12-14mph NW you may struggle to get going on a 3m unless your a lightweight
NuK
Hi Rob, Thanks for the consideration, I've only just spotted your post though! I met a couple of people while I was down there on Sunday (jonseyonline and 1 other guy not on here). The wind was stupid... skudding with the kite at about 70 degrees. definitely need more kites Didn't try the buggy, thought it was too dangerous and the beach was quite busy. Where is the best place to post on here to find others for a meet?
Rob Davies
No problem, Talacre doesn't seem that popular , I don't know why although the sand can be very soft in places making obe's pretty common . I managed to get dragged out several times backwards until I found the firm packed sand strip. I'm surprised you needed a smaller kite my smallest is a 3m buster and I have used it in 40mph winds , that said you can never have enough kites ! Just post up on this thread and hope people stumble across it . I prefer hoylake just the other side of the estuary on the wirral , a massive expanse of hard packed sand but you need insurance and a WSYC member to sign you in , there's a good crew that go down regular I'm there this Saturday if you fancy it ? NuK
I will try and get down there at some point but I wont be able to make it this week, thanks for the offer. I'm in Caernarfon and occasionally get to the inlaws van at talacre. The closest spots to me are Black Rock Sands, Rhosneigr, Llandonna. I would hope to be able to use the buggy in 40mph winds but I have only been out in it once so far (with 2 OBE's to show for it) and I cacked myself, it was raining and the winds were too high for a first attempt. I thought after reading the great tutorials from popeye and coastal wind sports that I knew the lot! It turns out I don't! Will have to try and remember some of it next time I get a chance to have a go. Oh and I've only use the kite 3 times so far as well which probably didn't help either. Got insurance though so a visit to Hoylake is possible in the future if I don't kill myself in the meantime, thanks Rob. Stafford
