MBS Core 95 - trucks and bearings

Recommended Posts

Take your trucks (and board) to a skate shop

There are two basic sizes in Aus - 7mm and 8mm.  The difference is quite subtle and until you try the bearing on your axle you won't truly know.  There is no need to mount the trial bearings in the wheels (but a quick check won't hurt)

There are tons of YouTube videos on servicing bearings.  Keep the dust covers on and the wheels clean.

If you are worried about corrosion, go for the ceramic bearings

Hi @Fernando,

You won't get these at a local skate shop.

For your board Axle O.D.: 9.5mm O.D.  Bearings: 9.5×28mm Assuming you have Twistar hubs.

After a quick search these don't seem readily available in stainless on ebay (ceramic is too expensve).

Your best bet is to email bearing shops in your local, give them your dimensions and see what they have. If they have stainless - even better.

You can buy them o/s from powerkiteshop http://www.powerkiteshop.com/mbs_mountainboard_bearings.htm (both standard and stainless available).

Or I am sure you can do some digging around on Amazon etc. now that you know your dimensions.

In the meantime, pull your bearings out. Take off the rubber seals. Spray with WD40 (or similar and watch the rust drip out) Then soak them in acetone for a good while. Thoroughly rinse them off and dry them. You can then pack them with boating grease and they should get you going for the mean time. Oh, and wear some gloves :eek:
