rheywood
Been and got another kite. Too scared to go any bigger, for now. My this kite is stable and easy to control. I know the principal of jumping, but need help in technique, definetly for sure The main bit is the landing part, preferably on my feet. I know this kite aint gonna lift me that high, but need to look a bit more expert, :p In a good wind it pulls like a mule, so what does a bigger kite feel like, to get higher jumps? Arms like a orang atah me thinks, LOL Thanks, Richard.
parksy
I'll give same advice as with most kite related issues, start off in lower winds, try it out and work your way up. Be safe. Practise and you will improve. Don't expect it all to happen over night.
mrphil
l got the same kite and you can get off the ground with it depending on the wind, (14st in 15-18+mph) l've had a couple brown pants moments but its all in the learning curve. Am a newbee too, 2 months in just bought a 9m blade. (its in the post) eek! Like parksy says "start off in low winds......." Stay safe and Good luck . Ps. get a friend to record you just so you can see where your wrong/right.
rheywood
Thanks for that. made school boy error, and took the thing out in some serious wind, so I will not be doing that again. I think it all practice, as I was not redirecting the kite from were I jumped, OOPS. Just ran, as per you are meant to, jumped, and basically tried to hang on, whoch results in being slammed to the ground, or the kite being pulled that hard, it as though it connected to a galloping horse. So will try in sub 20mph winds, and remember to fly the kite aftre I jump. Some kite by the way. Have not got the balls for anything bigger, Too old, LOL Cheers, Richard
slide
do ya mean a 3metre?.....if ya jumping with a 3 metre blade-be careful .. you need to get throw it for the lift and throw it for the soft landing my two fav 30mph+ kites are blade1's , a 3.3 and a 2.6 ....many before have said a 3metre is not a safe size to jump with , and it can be tricky - THROW IT LIKE YA LIFE DEPENDS ON IT , cause the harder you do , the more power you will get , and that is the trick , when flying and jumping with blades i learnt to jump on blades(still the best way to learn me thinks) , and it is the depower flyer's that pick up bad habits - lazy redirect......remember not to do that if ya jumping with small blades
mrphil
At the mo am jumping with a 3.5 rage in stronger winds. l've got a blade II 9mtr coming in the post that l bought of a guy on this forums. could you tell me more about the redirect... l have the kite on my right side of the window about 6 foot off the floor and l throw it UP through the wind window and then run to my right and when l feel the pull l jump and while l'm in the air l put the kite to 12'oclock and come down with a bit of a thump. should l be putting a quick full on turn with the kite before it goes back to 12'oclock and floats me down? Thanks for any advice on this.

rheywood
OOPS, I made a boo boo. It is a flexifoil Bullet 3.5. Well spotted Badger. So this is a harder kite to jump with, what is the reason for that please??? It certainly is one stable beast in the sky, it just the donkey at the other end, LOL
smackay116
Not ture distences but you should get the just of it For every three feet up the blade will pull you forward one foot But the bullit will pull you three feet forward and one foot up. So blades lift you Bullits/ rages drag you Stu
slide
i had a 3.5 mk1 bullet , back in 03 (they had only just come out), infact i had the set of 4 (5.5 and 7 came later) the 3.5 was always my favourite size-infact i did actually learn the basics of jumping with it ........and then i discovered Blades , and lost interest in the bullets. ....back to 2011 i was at the beach recently in a very strong gusty off shore wind , and getting jumps on a landboard with a 3.3 sting ...and while a sting is not the ideal kite for air-(you have to keep it moving , hard and fast, or your hitting the beach hard) .... if its windy enough , and your flying the kite properly, rages will get you airbourne too , just not as well as a Blade
