frayz
Where do you lot see the Transit connect in and against all these small vans? Good bad indifferent?
lazarus
bigger than a berlingo slightly smaller than an expert (definatly lower roof, i can't get into our underground office car park but the autoglass man could). I've no idea about available engines though i have heard one of our customers who had one say it was quite thirsty. read a few reviews that weren't overly impressed with the drive but that could just be personal preferance, I've not driven one this is just what i've picked up from reviews and folks who have had them. Druncan
Come on you lot, someone must have driven the 1.9 and the 2 ltre hdi. Mainly I'm around town with the occasional beach trip. If I need to go quick I can take my car. I need an honest review of both. Our Picasso is 2.0HDI common rail. 76k now (same engine in the Dispatch XTR but with a six speed box.) Ours has been a great workhorse motor 51mpg and they reccon it can run on vege oil blends as well. Had No major probs since 2001 when bought new. That's why i'm looking to replace the Pic with a Dispatch. Will report back the van is ordered now! Read some horror stories about failing turbos though:( . lazarus
You get turbo related horror stories for pretty much every turbo'd engine out there. keep your oil changes frequent (and use decent oil) and don't drive it like an arse and you should shift the odds of the turbo not dying into your favour
kangaroo
buy my van and you get a free 16 metre rrd hir kite in mint condition complete throw in f.o.c. mart @blackpool http://community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?p=1991835#post1991835 i will px against small van
mick
Sounds nice Mart but I wouldnt be happy with anything under 35 mpg. This old shed Ive got now does 75-78 miles for a tenner. It aint got a turbo or owt. It comes fully loaded with ferrous oxide tho. No Matt you cock, thats nitrous oxide.
mick
Well to resurrect a by gone thread, I would add that Ive decided after much thought to go back down the Hiace route. Too many ppl gave me stories of woe about the Hdi. When they're good, they're good but when they're bad...... . Ive had a look at some nice Toyotas at not stupid money. £4000 gets you an 04-05 tidy motor with 70k on the clock. Ive located a beauty. 2001 tho but 40k only. A few marks but for the money, less than 3 big ones, I can afford a bit of TLC. 2.5 ltre diesel and pretty economical.
captain caveman
Where do you lot see the Transit connect in and against all these small vans? Good bad indifferent? i have a connect and it takes 4 kites , harness , board etc fine ..... i can even get a lilo in the back without putting the seats down but you cant stretch you legs out ....... the drive is fine as is the handling but the 70hp one is gutless and not fantasic on fuel ..... i have the 1.9 td and my 2.0 td rover 400 is much faster and more fuel effeciant . to summerise ...... its a typical ford van
frayz
Interesting you say that. I bought an 05" LWB, high top Connect LX tonight. Its got the 90bhp motor and aircon, met silver, towbar, bluetooth, RCL, steel bulkhead, ply lining and 71k on the clock. Straight van with nothing but some stonechips. £3650 Looking forward to picking it up
GORILLA
I was looking at Vans - and the connects took to my eye as well until insurance quotes came through... so got myself a fusion.... Not slept in it yet but the front seat fold flat and it has a built in DVD player

frayz
Might be interested mate, however the price will have to be good as i can get ford alloys for good money anyway. PM me with a price.
PB
I was really interested in buying a T4 camper but my only question was, would it be practical for every day city driving? Also the fact that im 18 and most lads my age are driving small 'chavy' cars... As i wasn't sure i brought a ford fiesta, i think now i made the wrong choice? How much for a decent one, with bed, kitchen etc? Im paying £2200 insurance for my car, i did a quote for a 1.9 TD T4 and it was half that for me. I really need to think about it, what's the MPG like? Cheers, Dave
mick
Well I went up to Manchester today and got my new van. Low miler Toyota Powervan 2.4 normally aspirated diesel so same as me old un (2L). Just a few small marks on it. Cruising back 70 -85 mph and about 38 MPG. Just a tad disappointed it hadnt got the D4D lump but Ive had 3 2L's and they're pretty good. PB. You may have trouble insuring a commercial at your age. I'm sure it was either 21 or 25 min. so I just qualify:D

Andy456
i been looking at the peugeot expert hdi I have one of these, they are nice vans though it is worth trying to find an HDI version. Royster definatly has the best conversion i've seen if you are looking for inspiration for what can be done with them. I have a Citroen Dispatch 2.0 HDI and love it. Has anyone got pictures of Roysters conversion as would love some inspiration to convert mine.
