    HQ Symphony

Just to introduce my first review on a kite. I have not touched a kite since an original Peter Powell more years ago than I care to admit!

I brought this one with the prompting of my wife when sahe realised I need a outdoor hobby and we had spent a day on the beach at Borth watching the kitesurfers and boarders.
We decided on the Symphony with the help of a the nice owner of the shop in Shrewsbury Write here Kite now.

The symphony was sold to us as a decent quality easy to setup ready to fly simple 2 line kite and all I can do is echo all the things trhat the shop owner said. If a total beginner like me can glaunch this kite and get it doing all sorts of crazy things after just 3 flights then it must be good.

The materials seem of decent quality not the best but solid enough. The dyneema lines are good and apear to be hard to tangle (believe me we tried). The small pack size is brilliant and basically the kite lives in the back of the cars ready to fly when we get the chance. The setup is simple and once you figure what a larkshead knot is you have it cracked.

The kite is entirely predictable and a real steady flyer . As a really big bloke 20+ stone unless in a raging gale it's never going to lift me but it surely gives my arms and shoulders a good work out. It flies well to the edges of the window and I have a great time getting it to hover and loop out on the edge, pulling it accross the zone is fun and is a decent tug on the lines. With the quality lines it will happily loop upto around 6 or 7 times before loosing a little control. As a stunt kite it has ample agility and speed for me as a traction kite it obviously is too small but it has given this 45 yo a new look at a hobby I thought I had put away as a youngster and I am now thinking ot a 3m Beemer 4 line kite next payday and if I get brave enough even have a go with a board or buggy some time.

conclusions as an introduction to kiteing you could do a lot worse than this and its well worth the money spent and with care will last for years..

Am I happy with my new Toy you bet will I end up like it appears a lot of other people spending more and getting bigger into this great hobby almost certainly can I wait for next payday nope.. lookout creditcard here it comes 🙂

Nice review, I started out with a 1.4 symphony about 5 yrs ago and the quality has certainly improved since then I moved on to a Flexi super 10. I have Just got back into kiting again after losing interest in the two line kites and I can recommend the beamer III's as I have a 2 and 4 mtr, four lines is much more fun.

Returned to kiting several years ago with a Symphony 1.8. Good starter kite and good fun to fly, all for a small outlay - I got mine from Air Born kites at Lakeside, Kent. I still keep it in the car just in case. I eventually became frustrated with launching a 2 line kite on my own and purchased a Samurai 4m.
