I sit here writing this review a changed man. I've just spent the last hour and a half flying my brand new kite,an HQ Crossfire4.0. You have to excuse me if this review becomes a litle over zealous but I only started powerkiting two weeks ago so all this is very new to me
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
I got home from my work last night expecting the postman to have done the usual and left his "I called but you weren't in" card, which would have meant an early trip to the royal mail depot, but i was very pleasantly surprised to find my new kite lying, waiting on my bed for me.On opening the package i was faced with the thing that is mentioned in every HQ review........THAT MASSIVE ZIP!!!!!!!!! It pretty much serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever, but it's there!!! The rest of the rucksack seemed to be very good quality too, with plenty of different compartments for pretty much anything you can think of.
I then took everything out of the bag to inspect what i had got for my money and i must say it didn't disappoint,my other kite is a Flexifoil,a name that is synonomous with quality and the Crossfire isn't all that far behind(although admittedly, the kite killers are not altogether that great!!but I've read other reviews on this site and bought a set of Flexifoil handles with kitekillers) but in comparison to other kites and what you can pay for them, the Crossfire is certainly value for money
TAKE OFF
So to the first flight.Having been subsituted at football and storming off in a huff(being honest, the thing that was on my mind the most during the game was......."that's a very nice breeze!!!!!")I went straight home and called my mate who's also taken up kiting(he has the best deal.....all of the fun.....none of the expense!!!!)
the kite was very easy to set up.I layed out all my lines(the instructions you get with the kite are very clear)and attached the brake lines first, then the power lines....and I was ready to go!!!
I have no words to describe the next hour and a half!!!!!!!!!!!
as soon as the kite took off i was buzzing......according to the forecast, there were only meant to be 10mph winds..............to me, it felt like a hurricane!!!!!this kite has some power!!!!even in the Zenith, this kite will try to pull you off your feet. I actually found myself scared to put the kite anywhere near the powerzone to start with....Scudding??????? 20M scuds were easily achievable and time and time again i found myself flying my kite on my back after being dragged over the ground. My friend, who's only 11 1/2 stone, was managing to hit some very good airs and the enevitable "let's see if you can do better" challenges were thrown down....
...Better????I actually got lifted about 3 feet of the ground at an angle i really wasn't too keen on and found myself having to let go or I was getting a sore one....Flexifoil kite killers rock!!!!!!
SO
I would recommend this kite to anyone, whether a beginner or experienced pro, this kite is electric.I am absolutely knackered after only 1 1/2 hours flying and couldn't be happier!! It has amazing lift and by merely hinting at the powerzone, huge scuds can be achieved(my clothes are manky!!!!)
can I think of anything I didn't like about the kite???
I am new to this but for now this kite is the absolute don!!!!....oh.....wait..........I was planning on starting to landboard,if I can't handle this kite static, how am i going to be able to standing on a board????
oh well, that'll be £160 saved then!!!!!!!!
