    Flexifoil Sting

We (my wife) has owned this kite for approx 2 months and i have had chance to fly it several times, so thought i would give it a review. We had a mission with this kite in that we wanted a low pull 4 line kite basically suitable for the whole family.

We purchased it on line and eagerly awaited its arrival. When it did it was somewhat underwhelming. It comes supplied in a stuff sack approximately a foot long, with a Sting logo. It is ventilated to allow the kite to breathe. Upon careful unpacking Flexifoil quality is immediately evident. Comprehensive instructions, 2 handles equipped with kite killers and a 4 line set of 18meter lines colour coded and the kite itself.

The package is almost ready to fly and you receive it with the lines attached to the kite which leaves you to unwind the remainder from the winder and attach to the handles. Everything is colour coded and the kite killers are preattached.

The handles are scaled down versions pf the bullet 4 line handles and are similarly protected to prevent chafing. They complement the size of the kite very well and both myself and 9 year old son could handle it without problems.

The kite killers are ideal for a child and useful to instill good practice. For an adult on normal winds you could dispense with them. They are approimately half the width of its bigger brothers and are fastened in the same manner.

The lines are quite short a 18 meters but are of similar type (prestretched dyneema) to those of the Bullet and colour coded. The kiteitself is crispy and looks "cute" in whatever colour you choose. Ours is in red and looks compact and smart.

    THE HANDLING

The kite really needs about 10mph plus when it will complete the usual reverse launch, turning on its axis with ease.As the wind increases so does the pull and is a thoroughly nice kite to fly. It is fast with ease of control and looks impressive in the sky. Following Flexifoils instructions the kite packs neatly back into the stuff sack. I was tempted to handle wrap the lines but the wife dictated that we detatch them and only being 18 meters does not take long to wind up.

To sum up, not cheap, but getting cheaper.really nice build quality matching their other models and suitable for all the family.Flexis are built to last and i cannot see any reason why this one will not be the same.

In recent winds when everything else had been packed up or "lost" the stings were giving everyone a run for their money. Wind too fast for a 1.5 bullet to be controlled safely, even. Younger club members were learning scudding/skidding skills, and older newbies were planning purchases, though were recommended somthing larger, given the conditions. BUT they had our bug! No child too old. Nice review.

The sting is a great kite my friend has one, for the first few weeks i thought it was to small and a bit pathetic, but having flown it in an absolute gale in cornwall and scudding miles with it by doing figure of 8s with a bit of brake to slow it down and get it to produce some power, im a convert too. great for when you dont dare get a bigger kite out
