The flexifoil sting what's the point?
probably not the first or last time you will see that but what is the point?
My experience of flying was confined to a 2.5 bullet in any winds and conditions, sometimes with disasterous consequences.
I was on the lookout for a kite that I could really learn to fly with, not just hang on to.After a short while I stumbled upon a kite shop in cornwall whilst on holiday(I seem to have a nose for them)and saw exactly what I had been looking for.
In all fairness the bloke in the shop didn't have to do much selling,I parted with 90 quid, said my good byes and thank you's,and headed for the beach!
No wind
So I took the time to go over the contents of the drawstring bag.
1 set of main lines colour co-ordinated red and blue.1 set of brake lines, grey with red and blue stitches.1 winder.1 set of perfectly scaled down handles.1 blue and white flexifoil sting.sticker and free repair(within a month)voucher.
Virtually everything you should need to start with, exept perhaps a ground stake.
The quality of the kite is very high, having looked at some other well known makes since,I think flexifoil have got it spot on with quality control.
Well the acid test was always going to be flying it,which had to wait until a visit to Old Hunstanton on a blustery day(cornish winds just wern't up to it).
I started off in about 10mph winds, quickly finding that you can put this kite anywhere in the window and it will do as its told. Soon the wind changed direction to a north easterly and picked up speed until it was 40+
All other flyers had by now packed up,and if I had been flying my bullet would have done so before them.
The sting was loving every minute of it,I truly believe that I learnt to fly a kite on that day,it would willingly go to the edge of the window and stay there,a small tug on the brakes and it would land. the flying was very quick,so responses were also quick, good practice I think you will agree.
At one stage the gusts were really mad and I scudded about 2m not bad for a bloater like me(15st+).
So to finish, buy one to learn on or to help someone into kiting, they are recreational kites rather than traction kites to all but the very small.
That is if you don't go out on a very very windy day!!
