  1. Good review - I perhaps wouldn't call any kite idiot proof! I'd hate to see a Frenzy in the hands of an idiot!!

    HQ Beamer 1.8M

Great kite, doesn't overfly the zenith at all - my 9 yr old loves to fly it in 17kts max although he did have a go at 25 kts but it was too much on his arms (he can now touch his feet without bending over!!) When it gets over 30kts then on go the stronger lines and wow is it a blast ( as I get to fly his kite!!).
  3. But are there any piccies and how to kite a pulk???? Need info for potential expedition all info gladly rec'd.
  4. Any pictures anywhere of the sabres hauling stuff in antarctica??????

    PKD Buster 3M

At some point you'll get the 7m out in 20kts+ I remember the first time I did with my 6m - I did it very carefully and not for long

    HQ Beamer

Beamers all the way - well until you can get your hands on a Crossfire!!!
  7. Glad they didn't lose it off the beamer bag!!!
  8. Can't you submit but then withold permissions to print until you see a copy of the hack er sorry edited version?
  9. As above but I'd go with the beamer - no lift confidence quicker! I'd even say go for a 1.8 or a 2.5 as high wind kites for your bag as well! You'd get the mechanics of landboarding quicker in 7 - 10kts clean air on hard sand with either of these. Start small go big. One of my fave most used kites is the 2.5 beamer.
  10. If you are looking for advice on beamers etc I would recommend that you chat to Jerry either via the HQ forum (when it is back) or via racekites forum oh and we do have a real time chatroom as well.
  11. Only every 30 seconds the admin man here says!
  12. Early days guys but at least it's realtime
  13. Pants Alan must be playing with it! If it is down it wont be 4 long
  14. You guys might like to know that you can chat realtime now on another well known kite forum!!

    HQ Beamer 1.8M

OK - this is a great kite. I bought my 9 year old one for Xmas. Set up with KKs, full face helmet and pads I ttok him out. First go in 7 - 10 kts which yielded some good flying and getting used to 4 lines (he's previously only flown his symphony 1.4 but in some rediculous speed winds!!) on the first outing he still managed a 3 foot air! Yesterday before the big wind came I had him flying in about 15 - 17 kts with the gusts up to 25 kts. The kite handled beautifully with airs of 5 foot being a regular occurence and super long scuds!!! He did allow me to briefly fly his kite as the wind picked up too much for me to fly the Frenzy!!! He's already KGB'd with his 1.4 so perhaps in lighter winds we'll get him up there with the 1.8!!! I hasten to add this is all undertaken with the highest level of supervision and protection.
  16. Sailing gloves - I prefer the fingerless type - I'd also thought of some dakine snowboard gloves for the chilly days - anyone tried those???
  17. I've tken to hooking into the branch of a tree so that there i s a little bit of give and you can pump it! Don't choose a small branch tho' Think you have a typo in your kite bag Tweak!!! oo
  18. Well hey I've been lucky enough to fly some of their proto stuff so OK nothing to do with them on a paid basis but you can't fault them on speaking to the grass roots of the sport - I consider myself grassroots - no expert either. Maybe that's where flexi started - I don't know is the honest answer there. I do fly other stuff from other manufacturers as well and am due to review the series 2 rad pro range. I'm interested in getting folk into kiting and maybe the affordable level means it aint a Flexi - but the thing is they are kiting and enjoying it and maybe then they aspire to greater things. That has to be good from flexi's point of view. I know there are some dyed in the wool flexites out there and I hope I'm not being disrespectful with the comments - if anybody takes it the wrong way - apologies.
  19. It will be very interesting to see the HQ Crossfire in depower form next year - maybe not the same cache as the flexi but it won't be the same price either. I suspect that newbies going up from their beamer/buster to a kite with more lift may seek out the Crossfire rather than the Blade. So on the depower front maybe a nice intro to depower for some. Me thinks by the way you guys are talking the release of the depower CF may not be far behind the Sabre!
  20. The new HQ Crossfire will be offering a depower version as well in the new year. Think 6.3m will be start of the depower range. I still have in my bag the 4m prototype and it is a wicked kite - can't wait for the production models to be released!!
  21. Another little gem from HQ - the beamer has been improved as well. New bridle, new graphics on the kites, new handles, better lines on the 1.8m and a new rucksack with a groundstake and a belt sheath for it!!! Found the piccies for it on the HQ site. Oh and apparently no price rise envisaged either!
  22. Might not have got any responses but you've looked!!
