  1. Feet aren't massive, only a 9 ish. Boots are 5mm though. I was thinking of thinner boots, but the straps that are on at the mo have no adjustment to them. TBH I'm not ready to rip in head high stuff at Gwithian yet. (Not sure I ever will). Due to the prevailing SW's I mostly kite at Marazion, which only has little waves, but when there's some north in the wind I head for Gwithian, but if it's too big I'll get the landboard out.
  2. I took my boots off after the first run, but started to feel the cold a lot quicker without them on, and whilst today was warmer than some summer sessions I've had, it's only gonna get colder. But even without boots I was struggling to get my feet in.
  3. Went out yesterday for the first time on a surfboard, but with boots on I couldn't get my feet in the straps very well, but then once up and riding by the time I wanted to turn round I was pretty locked in and there was no way I could slip my feet out again to try my first gibes. Any one know of any adjustable straps that go pretty big to accommodate boots? I know you'll all be shouting 'go strapless' but I just want to get confident riding the board with the additional ease of use that straps give you when starting off. I'm not yet at the stage where I can just jump on the board and go.
  4. Anyone know of the best spots to kite in Lanzerote? Might be going for week in the summer. Flat water and small waves?
  5. Sure am Mick. Started again in April and only had 2 landboard sessions. Maybe. I sometimes wish I still worked nights, as I always felt I had time in the day to do stuff. I'm 5 or 15 mins from my two spots, so get more chance than many I suppose. I've kited 46 sessions so for this year, but Sunday was the first for 6 weeks. But at least when the wind doesn't blow I can surf or paddle board.
  6. Thanks for the info guys. I've managed to sort it. Butchered a very old ozone chicken loop and the donkey dick fits perfectly.
  7. Work will always get in the way, unless your business is that good that you can get your minions to do all the work for you. I know a few people who own surf shops, surf schools and a cafe right on the beach. They probably work more hrs than most employed people and it obviously effects their surfing time. I do the rota for my team, so always try and factor tides into my days off, especially at this time of year. Doesn't guarantee the wind though.
  8. Was out today when kite suddenly dumped to safety. Turns out the donkey dick on my V5 RRD bar had snapped:eek: Anyone know where I can get a new one? Or know of another brand that will for properly?
  9. Well I'm currently flying 13m Shiva, 9m proton, and riding an anarchist board. I have no brand loyalty to flexi, bought the Shiva cos it was a cheap new kite in the style I wanted. And apart from being a little on the slow side it's been ideal for me. Easy to fly, easy to relaunch, well built. Bought the Proton cos I liked the Shiva, and again easy to fly and relaunch. The anarchist is a nice board too compared to my learner board which is now my light wind board. Nice flex, so quite forgiving and I've had no problems with de lamination like the Hadlow boards have. So overall I'm very impressed with their products, but think they could do more to push the brand and maybe have a couple kites for each discipline instead of just the one.
  10. Was out on my 17 Emotion today. Wind started at 8-10 knots and finished at 12-14 with a couple of inches of trim pulled on. 8 knots needs my wide board, but could have used my normal board at the end, but I fancy a skim type board now for these conditions. Was playing about in some little waves.
  11. I've got a strutless 17m RRD emotion. Gets me going from 8-9mph with my 139x49 lost cause board, at 12-13 I can go on my 135x40 Flexi anarchist. This thing is the easiest lei to launch. You can self launch it from 5mph. I can't say how it goes upwind, cos my techniques not great, but I can hold my line in onshore conditions from 10mph, so keeps me happy. My next kite down is a 13m Flexi shiva, gets me going from about 14. Then a 9m Proton. That's all I need. I'm 75kg.
  12. Whatever condition Pete says its in then that's exactly what you'll get. He's got to be the best seller on here and is a true gent. I've had a couple of kites from him in the past and they've both been perfect. (Chuck us the commission later Pete)
  13. What's the point in a loose fitting wetsuit? Any loose bits will just let water in and make you cold. I'm 5"10 and same weight as you, I had a large suit when I was 95 kg, it was fine then, but now is just useless so bought a medium and it's a perfect fit. Just try more brands, you'll find a good fit, but it has to be snug to work properly.
