  1. The kites you refer to would all fly better on handles.
  2. All depends on kite size and AR. Low AR "beginner kites" makes no odds, they normally don't require any brakes other that to land. As soon as you get into higher AR kites where brakes are required to get the best out of them you will need handles commensurate with the kite size. Big kites need big handles (to exercise the brake leverage over a bigger angle) and small kites can cope with smaller handles....etc. Whether you choose one make of another is down to kite type and preference. As in life, length is the most important aspect. After that it's down to adjustability and, in particular, brake length. Then you need a set of handles with clam cleats for the brake leaders. The best I have come across are PKD, but I would say that.
  3. QR captive system is much safer than a system that relies on tension to hold the strop in place because it has a QR. You can rip it rather than struggle to undo it whilst being dragged down the beach. All a bit academic when you're unconscious, then you need someone to dive on the kite first. And hope you were wearing a helmet! But that's another debate....
  4. It's quite a concern really. Once Brid Council ban Fraisthorpe because of all the knob heads buzzing other legitimate beach users we might find Hoy as the only beach (well, tidal bank) left open...! Good news is - landboards sink at Hoy. Come one come all, you can get signed in and then stand around - top fun!
  5. It really does depend! However, I'd say the Tornado T3 is without a doubt the best race buggy out there. It's also good for cruising around! Bloody useless for big air though..... Does help your opinion if you own one I must say.
  6. At 12-16mph you should be holding down 6m+, then you'll go faster, believe me!!
  7. He's probably hiding from the tax man.
  8. How about informing Trading Standards, there's surely some form of fraud going on here?
  9. Oh boy, there's a question... I suggest you try before you buy. As a dedicated Century 2 pilot I could wax lyrical about their capability if you like! Suffice to say they go well, need input (they are an intermediate race kite) and will reward you as your skills increase. Give them a go! Chris
  10. An Oracle DBA? What do you do with the other £499,000 a year?
  11. A properly maintain Wichard Snap Shackle is the only one that is designed to open under load. The piston types can jam when you least desire it. The 40mm Holt Allen snatch block as above seems to work well and is what the majority of people I fly with use.
  12. Right you lot, I have more watchers than a nudist beach for these kites but NO BIDS... If it's you I suggest you bid before this evening because I'll be ending the listings for all three if they don't get more than 99 f'ing pence on 'em before the 24hr item cancellation point. Thankyou kindly. El Grumpo. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/chris_barker_1/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
  13. Lens sold, kites looking like they'll go "cheep".....!
  14. chris barker 1 | eBay UK On ebay, with some other stuff....
