What about drinking  water John? Is it piped in, ground water or collected from the roofs?

I think 'sand filtered bore water' was mentioned, Norm.  It would need to be filtered too, I remember being at Cactus Beach (which is not far away) about 10 years ago and the bore water was really, really unpleasant.  They have rain water tanks too and there's a note in the shower to limit to 3 minutes or so.  They also have a large solar panel system but their $90,000.00 worth of batteries have been 'fried' after only two years  so they're currently in 'discussions' with the battery manufacturer.  (same batteries as what I have too).  So we had to put up with the diesel generator going all the time.  Actually, there was a lot of diesel generators gong across the nullabor!
